I am SOOOO cross. Some of you may know that I've spent ages making cards and jewellery to sell at the 2 schools I work for for NRAS 10th Birthday, I set out a nice little display in the Upper School staff room at the beginning of the week and Iwent up today to see how much I've raised so far. Now wait for this----you're going to be astounded --- Ihave made the grand total of....... 20p!How's THAT for generosity from a whole bunch of teachers??????? YES I'VE CHANGED, PAIN DOES THAT TO PEOPLE.

yeap i went to a car boot with a stall most people made nothing and i made £5 i no longer take stalls out cos of this reason christine The chocolate eating housewife ...The washer woman .....naughty lady

Oh Julie, after all your efforts that is absolutely soul destroying. At times like these I feel I fail to understand people. What is wrong with humanity these days? Wouldn't you think, if for no other reason than just to stand them in good stead with colleagues by showing a willingness to participate, they would each have contributed something. Amazed ... Don't let it spoil your weekend ... an alternative plan is needed. Clearly schools are not the way forward! Chin up chuck,  Lyn x

What a shame Julie, after all your hard work, perhaps you will be able to sell them to other people. You would think people would always need cards for different occasions.

Thanks peeps. Maybe i could understand it if things were overpriced but nothing costs more than a pound apart from 3 larger jewellery items and they were only £3! I'll be setting out my stall at the other school next week so will let you know! YES I'VE CHANGED, PAIN DOES THAT TO PEOPLE.

but Julie i found the same .I took a stall out and sold one thing for a fiver but the other stalls made nothing and cost £5 i think it depends where you go .As i know a carboot which has junk hunting people and they just buy rubbish as its a hobby and they turn up in droves a car boot in a hall say useless . christine The chocolate eating housewife ...The washer woman .....naughty lady

Hi Julie,
I can't believe it, you would think they would buy as its for a good cause. I feel so angry for you. On the other hand what about putting your prices up and starting things at a fiver, might be interesting. I don't know anything about card making, but I do know that to make any profit from jewellery is really difficult these days even if your price accordingly to the cost of the silver and the hallmarking and work the hours for almost nothing, it still doesn't take into account the drawing up of designs. I can't compete with imported stuff, it must be made by children working for pence.
I hope your next sale brings better rewards.

Well- a slightly better result from the primary school where I work - £5.15 p. I'm almost too embarrassed to send it to NRAS! I think I may be eligible for a record- the person who has raised the lowest ammount for NRAS!!! YES I'VE CHANGED, PAIN DOES THAT TO PEOPLE.

I don't think it matters about the amount Julie, every little helps. I have just bought some stuff to try and make cards to sell at my tea for ten, but my 'kids' said oh no mum, no one will buy them, so i'll see how they turn out first! They never give me any credit for anything, i blame it on their age!

Julie what a bunch of meanies! If you do use your beautifully hand made cards yourself, don't forget to put some NRAS info on them. As for the record - I think I might out do you on that front. So far I've eaten the smarties in the tube but haven't yet approached people for the 10p pieces! I think I might start it off... I've been a bit distracted with other things (namely RA in all it's glory). Well done for making such an effort - I hope you find some appreciative people... Vicky x

Oh Julie
As long as I live I will never understand people. How can people be so selfish. It's the I'm alright Jack syndrome. As long as it doesn't affect them they don't want to know. Well I hope they never need support for anything and come up against people like themselves. Well done for doing it in first place. Hopefully you will be rewarded in other ways.
